Master of Commerce (M.Com)

M.Com students analysing financial statements at MIT Muzaffarnagar
2 Years · 4 Semesters60 SeatsHindi & EnglishCCS University4.6 (77 reviews)

Programme Overview

The M.Com is a quieter degree than the MBA and it suits a different student. If your intention is to teach commerce, to qualify UGC-NET, to sit for banking and accounts services examinations, or to take a senior accounting role in a regional enterprise, the M.Com does that better and at a quarter of the cost. If your intention is a corporate management career, take the MBA — we will tell you that at the counselling desk.

The programme runs two specialisation tracks from semester three: Accounting & Taxation, which goes deep into corporate reporting, direct and indirect tax and audit practice; and Finance, which covers security analysis, portfolio management, financial modelling and banking operations. Both close with a research project on a real enterprise or a real dataset.

Sixty seats, two tracks, and a NET preparation module running through all four semesters at no extra charge.

"I cleared NET in my final semester and started teaching at an intermediate college the same year. The Saturday answer-writing sessions did it." — Neha Goyal, M.Com 2025

Take the M.Com if you are heading towards teaching, NET, banking and accounts services examinations, or senior accounting work. Take the MBA if you want a corporate management career or you are inheriting a business. The M.Com is ₹24,000 a year against ₹98,000 for the MBA, so this is a real decision, not a formality — talk to the counselling desk before choosing.

CCSU requires a B.Com, BBA or an equivalent commerce background for direct admission. Graduates of other disciplines may be admitted against vacant seats after an entrance test, and we have had economics and engineering graduates do well in the Finance track.

Yes — no separate coaching fee. It runs across all four semesters, covers both the general paper and the Commerce subject paper, and includes monthly mocks marked by faculty. Twenty-one percent of the 2025 batch qualified.

A supervised study running across semesters three and four, either on a real regional enterprise with its owners' consent or on a public dataset. Around 12,000 words plus analysis, defended before an external examiner. Several have gone on to be published in regional journals.

Yes, through the same Training & Placement Cell as the rest of the institute, though the recruiter mix is different — more banks, accountancy firms and regional enterprises, fewer IT companies. The department also circulates teaching vacancies at intermediate colleges across the district.

Applications close 31 August. Open to B.Com and BBA graduates; entrance test for other disciplines.
