Programme Overview

A science degree is only as good as its laboratories, and this is where most self-financed colleges in the region quietly fail their students. Ours share the campus with an engineering institute, which means the chemistry students use a real analytical balance, the physics students use working oscilloscopes and spectrometers, and nobody signs a practical file for an experiment they never performed.

Three subject groups are offered: PCM for students heading towards engineering, computing or teaching; CBZ for those going into life sciences, pharmacy, agriculture or medicine-adjacent careers; and a Computer Science group that pairs mathematics and physics with genuine programming coursework taught by the engineering faculty.

Practical work is 40% of the assessment weight, laboratory batches are capped at twenty-four, and every student completes an independent investigative project in the final year.

"The instrumentation in the chemistry lab is what sold me. I had seen three other colleges where the equipment was locked in a cupboard for inspections." — Shivani Chaudhary, B.Sc CBZ 2025

What You Will Learn

  • Classical and modern physics with laboratory practice
  • Organic, inorganic and physical chemistry
  • Calculus, algebra, differential equations and statistics
  • Plant and animal biology with dissection and microscopy
  • Analytical instrumentation and measurement technique
  • Scientific method, error analysis and reporting
  • Programming in C and Python (CS group)
  • Computational tools — Excel, Origin, Python plotting
  • Laboratory safety, handling and record-keeping
  • Independent investigative project design

Curriculum — Year by Year

All three subjects of the chosen group are taken with full practical components. A bridge course in mathematics and scientific English runs before teaching begins.

  • Subject I — theory papers & laboratory
  • Subject II — theory papers & laboratory
  • Subject III — theory papers & laboratory
  • Compulsory Hindi / English
  • Environmental Studies
  • Computer Fundamentals Lab

Subjects continue at an advanced level with heavier laboratory loads, plus a vocational credit course and the start of the analytical instrumentation module.

  • Subject I — advanced theory & laboratory
  • Subject II — advanced theory & laboratory
  • Subject III — advanced theory & laboratory
  • Analytical Instrumentation Module
  • Vocational Course (choice of six)
  • Computational Methods Lab

Two subjects are carried forward in depth. Every student completes an independent investigative project with a written report and a defence before an internal and external examiner.

  • Major Subject — advanced papers
  • Minor Subject — advanced papers
  • Independent project & viva voce
  • Research Methodology in Science
  • Industrial / laboratory visit programme
  • NET / GATE / entrance preparation module

Students at 75% and above may take a fourth Honours year built around a full-year research project, which qualifies them to enter a Ph.D. directly without an M.Sc.

  • Advanced papers in the major subject
  • Research design and scientific writing
  • Full-year research dissertation
  • Laboratory teaching assistantship
  • Instrumentation and technique intensive
  • Seminar presentation and defence

Subject Groups

PCM — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

90 seats. The classic route into M.Sc, teaching, defence services and technical government posts, and the strongest group for competitive examinations.

CBZ — Chemistry, Botany, Zoology

60 seats. For students heading into life sciences, pharmacy, agriculture, food testing and medicine-adjacent laboratory work.

Maths, Physics & Computer Science

30 seats. Programming, data structures and databases taught by the engineering faculty, with the same laboratory access as B.Tech students.

Physics Laboratory

Optics, electronics, oscilloscopes, spectrometers and a solid-state bench — shared with the engineering physics department.

Chemistry Laboratory

Volumetric and gravimetric analysis, organic synthesis, and instrumentation including spectrophotometry and chromatography.

Biology Laboratory

Microscopy, dissection, plant physiology, microbiology and a small tissue-culture facility added in 2024.

Careers & Outcomes

Science graduates split more evenly than other faculties. Of the 2025 B.Sc batch, 52% continued to M.Sc or another postgraduate programme, 22% took laboratory or technical employment, 18% were preparing for competitive examinations, and the remainder moved into teaching after B.Ed. We report all four groups rather than folding them into a single placement figure.

  • Laboratory technician and analyst
  • Quality control in pharma and food processing
  • Sugar, paper and chemical unit laboratories
  • School science teacher (with B.Ed)
  • Agriculture and soil testing laboratories
  • Data and analytics roles (CS group)
  • Defence, railways and SSC technical posts
  • Postgraduate study — M.Sc, MCA, M.Tech

Employers and destinations for this programme: Uttam Sugar Mills, Triveni Engineering, three regional pharmaceutical units, the district soil and water testing laboratory, private diagnostic laboratories across Muzaffarnagar and Meerut, plus M.Sc admissions at CCSU, MIT and IIT-JAM qualifying candidates.

Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from IIT Roorkee with sixteen years of teaching and four years in industrial quality control. She rebuilt the analytical instrumentation laboratory in 2023 and supervises the final-year project programme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Choose by destination, not by prestige. PCM if you are heading towards M.Sc, teaching, defence or technical government posts. CBZ if you are going towards pharmacy, agriculture, laboratory work or life sciences. The Computer Science group if you want the analytical training of a science degree with employable programming skills. Counsellors will talk this through with you before you commit.

Come and look — that is the only answer worth giving. Campus tours run every Saturday at 11 AM and the laboratories are open during them. Ask to see the chemistry instrumentation bench and ask a third-year student how often they use it.

Students do, and some succeed. Be realistic about the load: attendance in a science degree is heavy because of practicals, and dropping practicals to attend coaching will cost you the degree. The CBZ group overlaps well with NEET biology; PCM overlaps with JEE.

Yes. The degree is awarded by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, and is accepted for M.Sc admission anywhere in the country, including IIT-JAM. Nine students from the 2025 batch qualified IIT-JAM and four took M.Sc places outside the state.

An independent investigative problem, chosen with your supervisor, running across both semesters of the final year. You design the method, do the laboratory work yourself, write a report of around 6,000 words and defend it before an external examiner. It is the single most useful thing on your CV when applying for M.Sc.

180 Seats Across Three Subject Groups.

Laboratories open to visitors every Saturday at 11 AM. Come and inspect them before you decide.
