Programme Overview
Electronics & Communication sits at the boundary between hardware and software, and that is exactly
where a lot of interesting work now lives. Students learn circuits from first principles — analog,
digital, then integrated — and finish able to design a PCB, write firmware for it, and reason about the
radio link it talks over.
The department deliberately keeps a strong embedded and IoT bias. India's electronics manufacturing push
has created steady demand for engineers who can bridge board-level design and software, and our IoT
prototyping lab exists so students graduate having built devices rather than only simulated them.
ECE is the branch that most often produces cross-over careers: roughly a fifth of each batch
ends up in software roles, and another fifth in core hardware. Both routes are open from here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, and about a fifth of each batch does. Mass recruiters run
branch-agnostic drives, and ECE students already write C for embedded work. Those targeting software
typically add the institute's full-stack or data analytics certificate in year three.
More than there was a decade ago. The semiconductor and electronics
manufacturing push has expanded VLSI verification, embedded and hardware-test roles substantially,
though most are in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Noida and Pune rather than locally.
Yes — it is a requirement, not an option. Both mini-projects and the
capstone must produce working hardware. The department maintains a component store and covers
reasonable PCB fabrication costs for approved projects.
A fair amount — signals and systems, electromagnetics and communication
theory all lean on calculus and transforms. It is less abstract than the AI branch's linear algebra
but more continuous-mathematics-heavy than CSE.
